106th Anniversary of the Armed Forces, WOAF concert in “Scanderbeg” Square, Xhaçka: Military, a wonderful model to be followed

On the occasion of the 106th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Armed Forces, the Wind Orchestra of the Armed Forces (WOAF) brought a different atmosphere in Scanderbeg Square, decorated for the holiday season by the municipality of Tirana.

The WOAF played military marches, along with festive parts for the audience, among of which were Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka, Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj, Chief of Defence of the AF Brigadier General Bardhyl Kollçaku and many citizens of the capital.

Minister Xhaçka congratulated Mr. Veliaj on his work carried out at the head of the Municipality of the Capital and praised the over one-century old contribution and dedication of the Armed Forces, as an example that must be followed.

“As a citizen of Tirana I would like to thank you from my heart for the outstanding job, sacrifice, dedication, your vision and philosophy of leadership, which I am convinced that will make it a better place to live in for each of us who have decided to live and raise our own children here. I want to thank you and the talented team of the Municipality that have joined us here today and that is part of us in celebrating the 106th Anniversary of Armed Forces Establishment. This is a very important birthday for the Armed Forces, and I believe that it is a very important birthday for the whole Albanians, because the Armed Forces belong to all of us and it is their model, it is an amazing role model for everyone.” , - said Minister Xhaçka.

On his part, Mr. Veliaj expressed his gratitude for the service that the Albanian military have provided during these 106 years; describing men in uniform as a role model that should be followed as far as it concerns the respect to the state and law. “It is a tremendous pride looking at our flag, seeing the dignity, respect, discipline, and ability of the Armed Forces in Iraq, Afghanistan or in other countries, because you do not think that there will come a day that you will see inside of your life as an adult how your country from an inferior country is today a country that exports peace and represents this Albanian civilization and citizenship, which is the merit of our military. Today it is time that all of us should learn from the military. The respect to the state, uniform, and flag is the same because a military treats his job as a mission for the uniform, flag emblem and dignity of our country. Today we have respect for the 106 years of servin with dignity for our country, regardless of whom is in power, Albania is served to the state ” , – said the Mayor.

The concert of the WOAF in Scanderbeg square was the closing activity of the event for the celebration of the 106th Anniversary of the Establishment of the National Army, which started with the departure of a contingent in Afghanistan and later continued with photo exhibitions and history documentaries of the Armed Forces.
Furthermore, on the occasion of this anniversary, several sports activities were held in different disciplines in the Scanderbeg garrison, where medals were awarded to the winners.
