93 - Anniversary of Naval Force creation, Xhaçka: We extend by one year our presence in the Aegean Sea

 

93 years after its creation, the Albanian Naval Force, like the Armed Forces has undergone profound transformations that have responded to the demands and challenges of the time.

Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka said that today, this force has been re-conceptualized, restructured and naturally integrated with other structures of our Armed Forces, becoming part of NATO naval defense system.


"In our long-term plans, we have envisaged the development and enhancement of the Naval Force's operational capabilities and its modernization with modern equipment and vessels, staff training according to Alliance standards, so we can respond not only to our demands but also to those of NATO ", - said Minister Xhaçka.

She also announced that thanks to the professionalism shown by Albanian soldiers that have served in the 24 months of the NATO operation "Sea Guardian" this mission will continue in 2019.
"It's been two years since the beginning of this difficult mission and our presence there is highly appreciated and demanded by the operation's leaders. Our sailors have returned to heroes and have saved thousands of lives from safe drowning to the sea. We are determined to continue next year, we will be again present in this region, together our Allies ", - underlined the Defence Minister.


The 93 - ASnniversary of the creation of the Naval Force coincides with the 100th anniversary of the endurance of the longest Rear Admiral of the Naval Force, Abdi Mati.

"With 28 years in the service of the Naval Force, 24 of whom as a leading authority has turned into an unquestionable legend that is honored with respect by his colleagues and associates," said Minister Xhaçka during the ceremony at the Naval Force command.
In honor of Mati, his family published a photo album with historical facts about the anti-war figure and the Naval Fleet during the years 1945 - 1992.
