Praises for minister Xhaçka by the President-elect of the European Commission: Albania a worthy ally

The newly President-elected of European Commission Ursula von der Leyen praises Albania's role in the world's largest military alliance, NATO. During the farewell military tattoo in Berlin, the former Federal Defence Minister, who is newly President-elect of European Commission, announced nominally to the Albania's Defense Minister, Olta Xhaçka, praising her role in Albania and NATO relationship, qualifying our place as a worthy ally.

"I was always full of admiration to see how you worked your way until you were sitting at the NATO table. I am happy that today Albania is a worthy member of the Alliance’’, addressed Mrs. von der Leyen, Minister Xhaçka.

Along with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller, Germany's new Defence Minister, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, and dozens of German and European personalities, Minister Xhaçka participated in the highest military ceremony, which takes place to honour individuals for their service to the Bundeswehr. In the 200-year-old tradition ceremony, were invited close collaborates of the former minister Ursula von der Leyen.

Chancellor Merkel pleasantly welcomed Minister Xhaçka, and along with 200 other guests, attended the farewell military tattoo for Von der Leyen, given by Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer that took over as Defence Minister when Ursula von der Leyen was elected President of the European Commission in July.

Mrs. Ursula von der Leyen is the first woman to be elected the President of the European Commission and is expected to officially take office on 1 November 2019.
