Social Care

Social care aims to provide social and financial support to active and reserve military personnel, retirees, as well as civilian employees of the Albania Armed Forces (AAF), and their families.

Social care focuses on improving their treatment, living conditions, work and service environments, healthcare, proper management of leisure facilities, and creating all opportunities for their integration into society after leaving the service.

The Ministry of Defence provides its civilian and military employees with family life support and assistance, which includes areas such as:

 - Housing support through facilitated loans for active military personnel and civilian employees of the MoD, AAF, and housing rental treatment for military personnel of the AAF;
 - Healthcare financial support for active military personnel of the AAF, as well as civilian employees of the MoD and AAF;
 - Financial support for the families of active military personnel due to transfer of military effective, as well as meetting the costs for the dependent family members of active military personnel/civilian employees serving in structures abroad.
 - Economic and financial treatment of families of personnel fallen in the line of duty.
 - Motivation and appreciation: awarding of medals by the Minister of Defense for special contributions and merits, as well as Military Rest Houses.
 - Financial treatment and collaboration with military and veterans' associations.
 - Gender mainstreaming in policies and plans.
 - Special financial treatments upon retirement.
 - The life cycle of AAF personnel after the end of their military career.
 - Explanatory manual for pensions of military personnel in reserve/discharge/retirement.
 - Military family assistance programs.
