Minister Kodheli meets Royal Marines Commandant, Major General Ed Davis

The Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli met today the Commandant General of Royal Marines, Major General Ed Davis, who is in an official visit in the framework of Albania-UK bilateral relations. At the meeting attended the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo and British Ambassador in Tirana, Mr. Nicholas Cannon. Defence Minister Kodheli praised the support and assistance United Kingdom has given to Albania and Albanian Armed Forces (AAF) in the path of Euro-Atlantic integration, highlighting the fact that this visit is an expression of the growing cooperation between our two armed forces.

From his part, Major General Ed Davis thanked Minister Kodheli for the warm welcome and praised the current achievements of the AAF in the process of their reformation and full integration into NATO structures. General Davis stated that this visit to our country, the second one within very short time, is a clear indicator of the excellent cooperation between our two countries.
Focusing on cooperation in Defence, General Devis sought to further intensify them starting immediately the drafting of concrete programs. The British General said that, for the United Kingdom cooperation with the Albanian Army is important and this visit is direct support to all the reforms undertaken in fight against the corruption and in other sectors.

Both, Minister Kodheli and General Davis expressed confidence that cooperation between our two countries in Defence will be strengthen in the future, focusing, in particular, in exercises and interaction drills between the Special Forces of the AAF and Royal Marines.

Later, the Royal Marines Commandant, Major General Ed Davis met the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo.
