Defence Minister Kodheli at the Foreign Policy Committee

The Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli took part today at the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy, to discuss and approve the “Military and Financial Cooperation Agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and Government of the Republic of Turkey” and the “Implementation Protocol of the financial aid between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and Government of the Republic of Turkey”. The agreement is proposed by the Turkish side as continuation of the annual aid Turkish State provides for the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania.

Defence Minister Mrs. Mimi Kodheli explained in details this agreement, noting that the grant is approximately 1,137,500 US dollars divided in three main areas. Circa $900 million will serve as financial contribution to the purchasing of materials or military equipment; circa $50 thousand will cover fees for trainings, courses of Albanian personnel in Turkey; while the rest, $192 million will contribute to the Kuçova Airbase modernization project. This agreement, said Mrs. Kodheli few days ago, was discussed and approved by the Legal Issues Committee. It is another support by the Turkish side for the Albanian Armed Forces modernization and transformation.

After the meeting, Defence Minister Kodheli responded to the journalists’ interest on various actuality issues.
