Albanian Naval Force/Coast Guard deploys VII Contingent on mission in the Aegean Sea

In the Southern District, Pashaliman, a ceremony was held to send off the seventh contingent of the Albanian Naval Force/Coast Guard ship "Butrinti," which will participate in NATO’s operation in the Aegean Sea.

The event was attended by the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Altin Kurti, who, in his remarks, expressed gratitude and appreciation for the contributions of the Naval Force personnel. He emphasized:
"The participation of the Naval Force in such an important NATO mission is a story of success, starting with the first contingent in July 2023 up to this seventh contingent departing today. The involvement of the 'Butrinti' and its crew, now for the second time, alongside previous ships 'Lissus' and 'Oriku,' has been remarkable. Just recently returned from their mission, these ships have played a critical role in saving lives, including women and children, under extremely difficult conditions. Every contingent has enhanced Albania’s image and the reputation of its Armed Forces, writing new chapters of honor and dedication in NATO operations."

The Commander of the Naval Force/Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Adnand Agastra, also spoke, noting:
"Our commitments, both in the Aegean Sea and other operations, represent a tangible and significant contribution to the Alliance. I am confident that this dedication will continue successfully in the future, further strengthening Albania’s role in NATO."

The mission focuses on preventing illegal migration flows and, most importantly, rescuing lives at risk in the waters of the Aegean Sea.

The ceremony concluded with the handover of the National Flag by Rear Admiral Adnand Agastra to the contingent commander, Captain Third Rank Mario Myftari.
