Lieutenant Colonel Dhimitër Selmanaj was introduced as the new Commander of the Military Police; Minister Vengu: We continue modernization

Lieutenant Colonel Dhimitër Selmanaj was officially introduced as the new commander of the Military Police in a special ceremony. The event was attended by Defense Minister Pirro Vengu, Chief of the General Staff of the Albanian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, as well as officers, non-commissioned officers, and civilian personnel from the Military Police.
In his speech, Minister Vengu highlighted the vital role of the Military Police, which, in addition to its regular duties, has taken on increasingly important missions, including participation in international operations and support for civil emergencies. He praised the commitment and collaboration between the Military Police and other law enforcement agencies.

"This 33rd Anniversary brings with it two important developments: first, the entire garrison and infrastructure are now at the disposal of the Military Police, which also places the responsibility on the new commander, along with his staff and the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces, to carry out a comprehensive renovation of the infrastructure where you operate. The second key element is the appointment of the new commander, who returns to the Military Police, a force that has often been viewed as focused solely on the proper execution of legal processes within the Armed Forces but has increasingly shown, over the years, that it has taken on more significant responsibilities beyond its traditional mission." - emphasized Minister Vengu.

Minister Vengu expressed confidence that, under the new command, the Military Police would continue to enhance its professionalism and operational capabilities.
"When I mention additional missions, I am referring to your participation in foreign missions and your role in supporting Civil Emergencies, where I particularly acknowledge your dedication, which I highly value and continue to do. I also highlight your collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, a mission that should become an even stronger pillar of professionalism, preparedness, and investments in human resources, systems, tools, and equipment." - minister Vengu said.

The Minister also emphasized that modernization and further investment in the Military Police’s tools, equipment, and infrastructure would be a top priority this year. "I would like the 34th year of the Military Police to be dedicated to modernization and further investments, not only in the comfort of your workspaces but also in upgrading the tools and equipment that are essential to your operations." - he noted.

Minister Vengu confirmed that, together with the Chief of Staff and the new commander, they would work to improve all operational and legal frameworks governing the Military Police's work.

Additionally, the Minister announced an increase in the financial compensation for all categories of Military Police personnel and emphasized that the ongoing review and improvement of all structures, tools, and equipment would remain a priority for the Ministry of Defense. "You have represented and continue to represent our country with dignity in several missions, including in Sinai, Egypt, Kosovo, and the Aegean Sea. You are among the forces that help raise the profile of the Armed Forces within the Alliance. Your responsibility is significant, but it comes with our trust and commitment to you. This 33rd anniversary also brings an increase in financial treatment for all Military Police personnel, and as I mentioned, the continuous review and enhancement of infrastructure, tools, and equipment will be a key focus for us this year." - stated the Defence Minister.

In conclusion, Minister Vengu expressed his belief that the new commander, Lieutenant Colonel Dhimitër Selmanaj, would continue to strengthen the Military Police’s professional standards and uphold high levels of discipline and law enforcement, proving that the Military Police is a reliable force that earns the trust of both citizens and the Armed Forces.
