Albania has made a significant advancement in the field of security and defense by joining the Military Erasmus program, which will allow Albanian cadets to train at more than 10 military academies across European Union member states.
This development was confirmed during meetings between Defence Minister Pirro Vengu and EU security and defense officials in Brussels. The discussions primarily focused on strengthening the military industry and enhancing international cooperation in this sector.

During his meeting with Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, Chair of the Security and Defense Committee in the European Parliament, Minister Vengu highlighted Albania’s contribution to security in Southeastern Europe:
"As Albania continues to make comprehensive progress in its EU accession process, I have requested that our country be included in the new support mechanisms for the military industry that the European Union is developing for its member states." - Minister Vengu stated.

Another key meeting took place with Fergal O’Regan, head of the European Security and Defense College, where discussions centered on expanding academic capacities, exchanging expertise in research and innovation, and enriching military training curricula.
Mr. O’Regan welcomed Albania’s inclusion in Military Erasmus, emphasizing that this initiative opens doors for high-quality, standardized training for Albanian cadets at some of the EU’s most prestigious military academies.
