Albania and the United Kingdom sign agreement to strengthen Defence Cooperation

In a formal ceremony held at the Prime Minister’s Office, Albania and the United Kingdom signed a new agreement to enhance and expand their bilateral cooperation in the field of defence. The signing was attended by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Albania’s Defence Minister Pirro Vengu, and senior officials from both governments.

This agreement marks an important milestone in deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries, with a focus on boosting defence capabilities and developing the defence industry.

Through this agreement, both sides express a shared commitment to closer collaboration in the production of defence equipment, industrial investment, and technological innovation. It includes partnerships with British manufacturers for the development of military systems, including ground-based air defence and counter-drone technologies.

The agreement also outlines plans to explore joint export opportunities to strategically important third countries and establishes a framework for joint training and cooperation between the two nations’ armed forces.

While the agreement is not legally or financially binding, it sets the foundation for future cooperation through specific arrangements, in line with relevant legislation and international commitments.

This development reaffirms the commitment of both Albania and the United Kingdom to a strong and forward-looking defence partnership, contributing to regional stability and global security.
