Rome joint government summit: Ministers Vengu and Crosetto sign Albania–Italy Defence Cooperation Agreement

In the framework of the first intergovernmental summit between Albania and Italy, held in Rome under the leadership of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Prime Minister Edi Rama, an important Defence Cooperation Agreement was signed between the two countries.

Defence Minister Pirro Vengu and his Italian counterpart, Guido Crosetto, signed the “Agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Republic of Italy on Cooperation in the Field of Defence,” aimed at further strengthening the strategic partnership and bilateral security ties.

Following the signing, Minister Vengu stated: “This is a new step in the rich chapter of our trans-Adriatic partnership”, emphasizing that Albania and Italy share not only history and cooperation, but also “a common perspective on the security challenges facing our continent.”

The agreement is expected to pave the way for new joint projects in the field of Defence, military training, expertise exchange, and coordinated efforts within the Euro-Atlantic security framework.
