Deputy Minister Skana at the 30th anniversary of the Foreign Languages Centre: A key contributor to the Armed Forces’ representation in NATO

The Foreign Languages Centre at the Defence and Security College celebrated the 30th anniversary of its establishment with a special ceremony attended by Deputy Minister of Defence Pranvera Skana.

Addressing lecturers, officers, and students, Deputy Minister Skana described the occasion as an important milestone and highlighted the strategic role of language in the field of defence and security.

“In defence and security, language is far more than a tool for communication. It is a bridge between partners, the essence of military diplomacy, and a strategic asset that enables cooperation. Over the past three decades, this department has done outstanding work in preparing officers and leaders who have proudly represented the Albanian Armed Forces in international missions, at NATO Headquarters, and in key global security forums,” she stated.

Ms. Skana stressed that the success of joint operations depends not only on tactical preparedness, but also on effective communication and trust-building. She also expressed gratitude to the academic staff and professors who have contributed to the centre throughout the years.

The mission of the Foreign Languages Centre at the Defence and Security College is to equip military and civilian personnel with the skills needed to meet NATO standards and support international operations. The centre also develops academic and scientific work focused on improving language teaching, testing, and translation programmes in line with the objectives of the Albanian Armed Forces as a NATO member state.

In addition, the centre strengthens cooperation with counterpart institutions in NATO member and partner countries through the exchange of expertise and the implementation of advanced language-learning methodologies and programmes.
