Deputy Minister of Defence Blerina Abrazhda delivered the keynote address during the “Emerging Security Issues” course at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, based in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, as part of a week dedicated to the defence industrial base.

A former participant in Marshall Center programmes, with 15 years of experience in the defence industry, Abrazhda brought her professional expertise to the discussion, combining it with her perspective as Albania’s Deputy Minister of Defence.
The session focused on the geopolitics of the defence industry and the impact of production capabilities, supply chain dependencies and industrial cooperation on the ability of states and NATO Allies to withstand prolonged crises.
“The defence industrial base is the foundation of strategic freedom,” Deputy Minister Abrazhda emphasised, a message also highlighted by the Marshall Center.
Her experience in the European and American defence industries brings to Albania’s defence leadership first-hand insight into the links between industry, technology and national security.
The George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies is a joint U.S.-German institution that serves as a platform for security studies and strategic dialogue on contemporary challenges.
