Minister Kodheli meets the Assistant Secretary of State, Ms. Victoria Nuland

On the second day of her visit to the United States, the Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli met the Assistant Secretary of State for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, Ms. Victoria Nuland. Ms. Nuland thanked Minister Kodheli for the contribution made to help the Peshmerga in Iraq. With this act, said Ms. Nuland, you reminded to Europe its important role. The Assistant Secretary of State Nuland praised the progress made in Defence and Security. During the meeting, Mrs. Kodheli informed Ms. Nuland about reforms in Defence and Security. Mrs. Kodheli said that Albania has initiated the modernization of the Albanian Armed Forces replacing the eastern weapons with western ones.

Ms. Nuland, praising the decision of the Albanian Government, said that the weapons replacement will be one of the objectives of the upcoming NATO summit. Both interlocutors focused on the political developments in Albania, discussed about current situation in the region and about the upcoming visit of the Albanian Prime Minister to Belgrade, the political situation in Kosovo, and during the meeting, Albania’s engagement at the regional and international level was also highlighted.

Defence Minister Kodheli also visited the Senate of the Unites States.
