NATO summit in Vilnius, Albania committed to increasing Defense spending

NATO members gathered on July 11 and 12, in Vilnius, Lithuania, where the situation in Ukraine was discussed. Part of the Albanian delegation, headed by Prime Minister Edi Rama, was also Defence Minister Niko Peleshi. During the meetings held with leaders of allied and partner countries, there was emphasized Albania's commitment for the long-term political and practical support of Ukraine, which, upon fulfillment of the conditions, will also become part of the Alliance.

Fire prevention and floods, presentation of “Albania 1” and “Albania 2” their monitoring results

The first results of satellite service were presented today, in an event attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi, heads of various institutions and experts.
Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku said that Albania has managed to monitor 47% of the territory through two satellites "Albania 1" and "Albania 2", launched into space.

It is concluded the first phase of the course for Albanian Experts on Civil Protection

In the frame of "Creation of the National Operational Center for Civil Emergencies of the National Agency of Albanian Civil Protection", Project, financed by the Italian Development Cooperation Agency with an amount of 1.2 million euros, was conducted, a course for Albanian Civil Protection Operators. The course took place in Tirana from June 21 to June 28, 2023, in cooperation and coordination with the Department of Civil Protection of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Italy and with the Civil Protection of Tuscany/Metropolitan City of Florence.

Peleshi in Israel, the “Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Defense and Security” was signed

Defense Minister Niko Peleshi, is conducting an official visit to Israel. On this day, Mr. Peleshi was received with an official ceremony at the Ministry of Defense of Israel by his counterpart, Mr. Yoav Gallant.

The Ministers of Defense signed the new Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Security and Defense, a high-level agreement that creates a solid legal basis for cooperation in the field of security, defense, military technology, training and information exchange. The expansion and intensification of cooperation, which is framed in every provision of the new agreement, will reflect the excellent historical and diplomatic relations as well as the mutual appreciation that the Jewish and Albanian people share. It started with a draft, which was negotiated for several months by the respective staffs with the intention and good desire to start a new era of cooperation in the field of Defense and Security.

Minister Peleshi receives the Chief of General Staff of the Rumanian Armed Forces

Defense Minister Niko Peleshi met the Chief of the General Staff of Romania, General Daniel Petrescu, accompanied by the Ambassador of Romania to our country, Mr. Octavian Șerban and the Military Attaché, Colonel Valerică Piroscă.

During the meeting, was recognized the cooperation between the two countries in the field of Defense. The discussion was particularly focused on the developments and commitments of both countries in the current security environment, the joint efforts in support of the Alliance for Ukraine.
