Armed Forces operation for litter collection

Immediately after the decision taken from the inter-ministerial committee to declare the state of emergency for the environment situation, the Ministry of Defence and General Staff of the Armed Forces were engaged in several national roads, mainly in the area of Lezha-Shkodra, in the national roads: Hani i Hotit - Shkodra; Muriqan - Shkodra; Ura e Bunës - Shirokë; Shkodra – Lezhë - Milot. During the day, the Armed Forces have cleared 76 km of roads, while the collected wastes were transported by the Armed Forces’ vehicles toward their collection sites.

Defence Minister Mrs. Mimi Kodheli and Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo, closely inspected the second phase of the Armed Forces’ action for litter collection. They were stopped at the Morina’s border crossing point, and followed the collection in all the roads, from Morina to Tirana: Morinë Customs checkpoint - Ura e Drinit, Kukës (20 km); Milot - Rubik (12 km); Milot-Kukës (32 km); Kamëz - Vorë (12,5 km) dhe Kashar-Rinasit Airport (7 km). 83.5 km of national roads were cleaned and the collected wastes were transported by AFs’ vehicles to their collection sites. The Armed Forces engaged 1,000 troops and 80 vehicles.

During the third phase, Minister Kodheli and CHOD stopped at the Kapshtica customs checkpoint where numerous troops of the Armed Forces were committed to the litter collection. In her address, Minister Kodheli said, “Today is the third phase of a battle against litter. As you can see, same as in Morina, the view in Kapshtica is not a dignified one.” Minister Kodheli stressed that, it is required a closer cooperation with the residents, local authorities and business to keep clean the territory.
During the Armed Forces action, 3 artillery shells of 85 mm caliber were found near Vora.

The action included litter collection in the roads: “Mother Tereza” Airport-Fushë-Kruja crossroad (10 km); Vora-Port of Durrës (both sides of highway, 42 km); Elbasan-Prrenjas (47 km); Pogradec-Korçë (5 km in Qafë Plloçë); Qafë Thanë-Rrajcë (9 km) and Korçë-Kapshticë (30 km). The Armed Forces engaged 1,300 troops and 86 vehicles.

It is the fourth consecutive Saturday the Armed Forces, after the declaration by the Inter-ministerial Committee of civil emergency on the environmental situation, are committed to the operation of litter collection in the whole country. Today, over 1,100 troops and 100 vehicles of the Armed Forces structures concentrated along the national roads Fier-Levan-Kakavija-Tepelenë-Gjirokastra. The Armed Forces operation, for the litter collection in these roads, was followed closely by the Defence Minister Mrs. Mimi Kodheli and Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo.
This country needs projects, but also to strengthen more sanctions and spirit of rebuke, to increase the general opinion and everyone’s action, stressed Minister Kodheli.
