2nd Infantry Battalion, deployment exercise in Gjirokastra

About 100 vehicles and 320 troops of the 2nd Infantry Battalion (2ndIB) of the Land Force tested the deployment capabilities moving from their base in Zall - Herr to Arshi Lengo, Gjirokastra, within one day.

The main purpose of this training was to enhance the capabilities of the 2nd IB Staff in planning and developing plans for deployments from the Permanent Concentration Area to the Temporary Concentration Area, to fulfill operational tasks in accordance with orders and instructions, regarding combat and non-combat operations.

Testing the deployment capacity of the 2nd Infantry Battalion is imposed from being part of the operational reserve of the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR.

Deploying for over 230 km away from the Permanent Concentration Area, 2nd IB troops also tested the capabilities for capturing and securing key terrain points during the transfer.

The capabilities of support structures such as Support Command and Military Police were also tested.

The "Eagle 19-02" exercise also aimed at co-operating with local government authorities and boosting local population's confidence in the Armed Forces.

For this Purpose, troops participating in the training organized an open day at the Çerciz Topulli Square in the city of Gjirokastra, where the Armed Forces exhibited vehicles, armaments and equipment. The open day in Gjirokastra was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Bardhyl Kollçaku, who was accompanied by the Mayor Flamur Golemi and Land Force Commander Brigadier General Albert Mullai. Brigadier General Kollçaku congratulated the troops on organizing this event, while Mayor Golemi thanked the Armed Forces for their engagement during the civil emergencies in helping the population.

Earlier, 2nd IB staff intervened to rehabilitate the sports facilities at Bilal Golemi United High School in the Cepo administrative unit. The Personnel Recruitment Center was also present to inform the young generation of Gjirokastra for the opportunities offered by the Armed Forces and as well as serving the country under uniform.
