Albanian Armed Forces at Brussels Marathon

Military representatives of the Albanian Armed Forces honor the country and the national flag wherever they serve in NATO missions or structures across the globe.

This time it was Lieutenant Colonel Roland Shuli, who for the second consecutive year participated in the Brussels Marathon.

Lieutenant Colonel Shuli, who serves in the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe participated in this year's marathon together with his daughter Miriam.

He is very pride of representing our country at the Brussels Marathon as well as running alongside his daughter. “I feel privileged to wear national symbols and watch the flag of Albania waving alongside those of the other countries in these activities. The marathons are not only competition, but also events that promote a healthy lifestyle and that inspire thousands of people, from children to the elderly to become more involved in sports. My participation in the marathons is to set the best example not only as a soldier but also as a parent, so I was proud to watch Miriam as she vigorously ran to the finish line and enjoyed the medal.”

Lieutenant Colonel Shuli has represented our country and our Armed Forces in other marathons in Belgium, such as the Namur International and the Mons International Marathon. Also, in March this year, Lieutenant Colonel Shuli arrived second in the 16km long race, held at the Supreme Allied Command Europe, SHAPE.

Meanwhile, the Albanian Armed Forces will participate with 130 militaries from all ranks and units at the Tirana Marathon on Sunday.
