"Eye of the Sky" Memorial erected in memory of the 23 fallen in Llogara tragedy

23 persons, including doctors, nurses, pilots and students who died 30 years ago in Himara, will now have a Memorial near the Artificial Lake in Tirana.
Under the initiative of Hyseni family, that lost their daughter in that tragedy, student at that time, and with the support of the Municipality of Tirana and the Ministry of Defense, was inaugurated on Saturday the "Eye of the Sky" Memorial.
Defense Deputy Minister Mr. Petro Koçi, present in this activity, stated that it is the duty of society, of state institutions to commemorate and dignify all those who gave their lives in the line of duty because it cultivates idealism.
“This country, this state, we, all of us need to be inspired by the idealists and the 23 youngsters, doctors, pilots, technicians, nurses, are a powerful resource of energy idealization, for us to know how to do our job. I want to emphasize that aviation martyrs who are also part of this painful event will remain, especially for the Armed Forces, a tremendous inspiration because the work, activity, duty, mission of the military is always dangerous”.
Defense Deputy Minister Koçi said that the government has recently adopted a new law for the status of Martyr of the Nation, where it is clearly specified that all crews who lose their lives on duty shall be declared Martyrs of the Nation.
Present at this event was also the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Vasilika Hysi, the Deputy Mayor of Tirana Arbjan Mazniku and families of the fallen.
On behalf of the family members, MP Alket Hyseni said that the devotion shown by the doctors, nurses and pilots at the event of November 22-nd, 1989 surpassed every imagination. By mentioning one of the 23 fallen, Hyseni conveyed that "Eye of the Sky” would be the symbol of the communication of this world with the hereafter, a symbol of society's memory of people and good deeds.
Thirty years ago in a battle with bad weather, a bus full of students travelling towards south cause of teaching practice, crashed, and two helicopters with nurses and doctors from Tirana were sent in their help, but during the effort to transport the injured, due to bad weather the two helicopters crashed one in Vuno and one in Karaburun.
