Earthquake, SAR operations specialists from Allied and Partner countries provide assistance

Following the serious situation created by the earthquake of 6.4 Richter magnitude scale, which hit our country in the early hours of November 26th, with the epicenter in the coast of Durrës, over 200 SAR specialists from allied and partner countries of NATO, have arrived hour after hour in Albania to assist our teams in this difficult situation.
Specialists from the EU, Greece, Turkey, France, Italy, Croatia, Romania, Switzerland, the US, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Kosovo and Serbia are providing specialized assistance in SAR operations.
These operations continued overnight in Durrës, while searches in Thumana resumed early in the morning, after being interrupted for several hours due to night-time difficulties. According to preliminary information, 24 casualties, 650 injured and 45 rescued.
Meanwhile, in order to help families whose dwellings have been partially or completely damaged, near the campsite set up in the Durrës city and the villages of Ishëm, Manzë, Sukth and Katund i Ri, 181 tents have been set up, sheltering about 1450 residents, and 10 field baths have been installed.
In Thumana campsite and near the damaged buildings, 67 tents have been erected in which 700 residents are accommodated.
