The Minister of Defence, Olta Xhaçka travelled for London as part of the official Albanian Delegation, to attend the NATO Summit that will be held in the capital city of United Kingdom on 3rd - 4th December .
As soon as the Summit comes to an end, Minister Xhaçka will come back to Tirana. Meanwhile she is in a continuous communication with the National Civil Protection Agency for the postmath management situation.
Currently, 1.26% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is dedicated to the Defence sector and 14.42% of the Defense Fund will be used to modernize the Albanian Armed Forces.
As can be seen from the list published on the official NATO website, Albania has a larger share of the Budget than the more developed countries and with a longer contribution to the Alliance.
The Defence budget since 2014, when it was promised at the Wells Summit, has had a steady trend, stopping the decline and starting growth. Since 2017, the government has adopted the national plan in order to respect investments in the defense sector. This plan sets out the political and financial commitment, in line with Wells' commitment, that by 2024, Albania will achieve 2% of GDP for Defence.
