Earthquake, United Arab Emirates helps Albania

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) joined the countries that have contributed with logistical equipment or sent teams to our country after the tremendous earthquake of November 26th.

On Friday, a cargo from the United Arab Emirates arrived in Albania with 460 family size winter tents that will alleviate the difficulties encountered by the earthquake that hit our country the previous month.

The flight from UAE was welcomed at Rinas Airport by the director of the National Civil Defence Agency Haki Çako, who thanked the representatives of the United Arab Emirates for the readiness and assistance provided to our country.

Many other countries have expressed immediate solidarity with Albania these days:

Kosovo was among the first countries which was engaged in SAR operations, the government allocated 100,000 Eur of financial assistance as well as food and blankets.

The USA sent in our country a number of experts.

The European Union announced a grant of 15 million euro.

Turkey among other aids has pledged to build 500 houses.

The Republic of Austria will assist the Albanian Government in dealing with the earthquake consequences of November by making available 600,000 Eur for the reconstruction of destroyed or damaged dwellings.

Romania, in addition to the search and rescue team, also brought humanitarian aid from the National Administration of State Reserves and Special Issues.
