Xhaçka inspects the reconstruction work: 233 families damaged by the earthquake will have soon their new dwellings

233 families that were affected by the 9/21 earthquake in Durrës, Shijak, Kruja, Kavaja or Rrogozhina will go soon in rebuilt dwellings. Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka inspected the work done for some of these facilities in Manëz and the former swamp area in Durrës.

“Our commitment is that no citizen will be left without a home and that no dwelling will remain a pile of rubble. 2020 will be the reconstruction year”- minister Xhaçka stated.

The reconstruction project of 233 dwellings is being implemented by the State Budget Reserve Fund to the amount of ALL 470 million and by the budget of the Ministry of Defense, “Civil Emergencies” program to the amount of ALL 90 million. The whole process is being supervised by the National Civil Protection Agency.

“We are all committed to complete the reconstruction process on time: the central government, the local government and the citizens, despite problems related to the procedures. We will do the same with all dwellings damaged by the November 26th earthquake. There is a full commitment, first and foremost by the Prime Minister and the Reconstruction Committee, so that no one feels oneself alone and that this important and difficult process must be completed in due time”,- Minister Xhaçka said, during a conversation with family members affected by the earthquake.

The construction of the new dwellings, based on projects developed by the Institute of Construction in collaboration with the local government, has begun weeks ago. Despite the difficulties created by the November 26th earthquake, or bad weather during December, the reconstruction process that will provide 233 Albanian families very soon with a new shelter, is underway.
