The increasing of the operational air surveillance capabilities is one of the Air Force priorities for 2020.
Air Force Deputy Commander Colonel Editson Zarka explains that the installation and the deployment of 3D radar is a major project that started in 2017 and will culminate this year.
"This will bring further improvement in airspace detectability, provide better coverage to Albanian airspace, ensure integration to national and NATO command-and-control elements and will increase the efficiency of military air traffic management and beyond.", says Colonel Zarka.
Kuçova Air Base, which will become a NATO tactical air base, as a major project of the country, Ministry of Defense and Albanian Armed Forces, is another important priority of Air Force for this year.
"The work, which began last year will be finalized with the implementation of several sub-projects, that will be made possible in close cooperation with the NSPA (NATO Support and Procurement Agency)," Air Force Deputy Commander emphasizes.
The improvement in the Air Force operational capabilities is another important element, with the focus being on Farka Air Base, and the Control and Reporting Center.
Training and exercises will take on a new dimension as regards the selection and training of new pilots, as well as maintaining the operational skills of pilots within NATO framework.
The Air Force’s focus for this year will also be on accomplishing its mission by serving the best way possible, especially in civil emergency situations.
