49 young military members completed the Special Force and Commando courses, thus becoming members of the two elite units of our Armed Forces.
Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka, at the special ceremony on the completion of the courses, considered our Commando and Special Forces to be as skilled as their colleagues from the most developed NATO countries.
“You are officially part of the elite of the Albanian Armed Forces and NATO. The certificate that have been awarded to you is recognized by every Alliance Member Army, and each of you can participate on an equal footing to your American, British, German, Italian, Turkish counterparts in any coming mission and intervention that we are required to deploy, as part of our commitment to the Alliance”, stated Minister Xhaçka.
She announced investments in the Land Force, not only to rebuild the edifices damaged by the earthquake, but above all to increase professionalism and improve financial treatment for military members.
“We are committed to a professional Army, with military personnel trained at highest standards. But also, with servicemen receiving much better treatment than the one they have today because at the end of the day, the core of the AAF are servicemen, young men and women in uniform. So, this is our biggest challenge, therefore a better treatment, if we want the Armed Forces to choose the most talented and capable young people," said the Defense Minister.
The Special Course lasts 6 months, more than the Commando Course, which one which lasts only 3 months, and they are considered the most difficult physical and psychological courses in the Armed Forces. These courses are aimed at selecting military personnel at the required standards and preparing them for special duties.
