COVID-19, Minister Xhaçka to be assured about the health of the Albanian military in the affected countries

About 500 Albanian servicemen and their families, as well as students studying at military academies in NATO countries, enjoy full health and continue their service in Alliance missions or our diplomatic missions.
Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka and the Chief of General Staff of the AAF, Brigadier General Bardhyl Kollçaku, through a videoconference with the highest Albanian military representatives in Alliance structures and missions, or military attachés in countries most severely affected by COVID - 19, were concerned about their health and their families.
Fortunately, none of the Albanian military serving abroad have symptoms associated with COVID - 19. Xhaçka urged our military to be careful with antivirus measures and assured them that they will be under the constant care of the Albanian state.
Minister Xhaçka talked to the Albanian military representative in NATO, Major General Nazmi Cahani, the Albanian representative in Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, (SHAPE) Colonel Petrit Çuni, Albanian military attachés in Italy and Greece, the highest Albanian representative in the Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan, as well as the highest Albanian military representative in KFOR mission in Kosovo.
The Minister was informed that the Albanian contingents continue their service in compliance with the new measures against the spread of COVID-19. Meanwhile, 5 of the students studying at Italian military academies have returned to our country after the Italian government shut down the academies and are currently self-quarantined at home without any symptoms. Albanian students as well as their foreign colleagues are pursuing online studies.
All the Albanian military serving abroad, and their families undergo periodic medical examinations. Meanwhile, they are in constant communication with the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense for any concern.
