One year had passed from the tragedy in Latvia, Xhaçka: We owe a debt of gratitude to our martyrs

The Armed Forces honored two fallen effectives a year ago in Latvia, Major Klodian Tanushi and Corporal Zerife Hasanaj. In a special ceremony organized by the Company of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), attended by the Minister of Defense, Olta Xhaçka and the Chief of General Staff of the AAF, Bardhyl Kollçaku, who laid wreaths at the memorial dedicated to the martyrs of the homeland in this company.

"We lost two of our best effectives. The AAF family lost two of its members. Two effectives who had their bright career ahead of them, as they had shown their potential in every training and every dislocation", said Defense Minister during her speech.

She emphasized the consideration shown to the families of the two Martyrs of the Homeland, as for every family of those who fell in the line of duty, in the Armed Forces. The two martyrs of the homeland, Tanushi and Hasanaj, further said Minister Xhaçka, are the memories that this profession requires young men and women, men and women with a sense of self-denial and sacrifice. "We all owe them a debt of gratitude. And above all, we are obliged to continue our mission, to modernize Armed Forces more, to make it more professional, more meritocratic , to better fulfill our mission to serve the citizens and to guarantee their safety ", said the Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka.

Major Klodian Tanushi and Corporal Zerife Hasanaj, part of the Albanian Contingent in NATO‘s "Enhanced Forward Presence" mission in Latvia, lost their lives a year ago, while taking part in combat duties.
