The Armed Forces demolished by controlled explosion the unmanned building at Shkëmbi Kavajës

Specialists of the Engineer Battalion, part of Support Command of Albanian Armed Forces (AAF), carried out, a few minutes ago, the demolition of a 6-storey building by controlled explosion in the area known as ‘Shkëmbi i Kavajës’, in Durrës.

For several days the engineer specialists in cooperation with the National Inspectorate for the Protection of the Territory (IKMT) set out the preliminary work to the demolition of the building, considered unmanned as a result of the earthquake of November 26, 2019.

The first floor of the building has been completely destroyed, which has hindered the operation of the engineer forces. Since the quake, Engineer Forces have contributed to the hazard elimination, in areas where there have been severely damaged buildings, collapsing 13 of them and leading the way for the government's plan to rebuild.
