Humanitarian Operation, Xhaçka: We shall proceed till the end of the pandemic. The cooperation with the local government is to be appreciated

COVID - 19 has had its impact on many sectors of the economic and social life in the country but did not change the focus of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces to be close to the citizens in difficulty.

Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka, accompanied by the District MP Taulant Balla, Mayor Gledian Llatja, the prefect and the director of the Civil Emergencies, closely followed the packing storage for the district of Elbasan in the sports palace and their distribution to some residents in the villages of this municipality and that of Peqin.

“The operation launched two months ago will continue to help all families in need to cope with this difficult situation. I hope we get back to normality very soon. Until then, we will be by their side and will support every family in need. Through the humanitarian operation, based on a well-coordinated scheme between various institutions, in two months, over 370 thousand families and individuals have been assisted with food, medicine, and other services, while around 500 thousand pensions have been distributed across the country. The distribution of food packages is done based on the lists, which come from the municipalities through social administrators, which ones are then cross-checked and verified with social services and other institutions to make the right identification of their needs and the assistance we can provide.” - said among others, Minister Xhaçka.

Mayor Llatja and the district MP Balla stressed that the aid is being distributed continuously to families in real need and demanded the humanitarian operation not be politicized.

"For those who use the packages for political reasons, let them come here and see, not to talk about shame either in the Parliament or the street opposition, but to come and see the packages. Simply tell them to come and open their eyes and see how these packages here are conceived with those which are the basic food for every family", - emphasized Balla.
The operation of aid distribution in Elbasan region is being supervised by the highest leaders of the Armed Forces and will continue in the regions of Shkodra, Lezha, Korça, Fier, Berat, Gjirokastra and Vlora.

Parallel to this commitment, the Armed Forces also support the State Police at checkpoints or patrols 24 hours a day.
