After the appointment of Major General Bajram Begaj as the Chief of General Staff of the Albanian Armed Forces a new leadership staff has been installed. At a meeting with the new leadership of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka conveyed the vision of a modern Armed Force, built on meritocracy and professionalism in order to meet the standards of a NATO member country.
According to Minister Xhaçka, the Armed Forces today operate with dignity and standard side by side with the most powerful armies in the world in missions from Afghanistan to Mali.

The reform on Civil Emergencies, modernization through investments in the field of defense and cooperation with allies and partners, education and financial treatment of the Armed Forces have been listed by the Minister of Defense as some of the areas where important steps have been taken by bringing positive results and direct impact in what the Armed Forces are today.
"We have managed to increase the financial treatment and restore the food compensation for 4.000 members of the Armed Forces. It is definitely not enough, but it is an important first step towards a more dignified and more appreciative treatment of anyone who serves in the Armed Forces", - stressed the Defense Minister.

She urged the new staff for cooperation and commitment to increase the professionalism in the ranks of the Armed Forces, which will soon open its doors for the first time to all those youngsters who want to pursue their (bachelor) studies in the field of Military Science.
