Bad weather forecast at the weekend, NACP letter to five prefectures: Put the structures on alert

Following the weather forecast information provided by IGEWE and the homologous synoptic centers of neighboring countries, over the weekend in the North - West and South part of the country there will be heavy storms and rain, the National Agency of Civil Protection (NACP), pursuant to the law "On Civil Protection“ and the National Civil Emergency Plan addressed an official letter to five prefectures: Shkodra, Lezha, Fier, Vlora and Gjirokastra.

The areas that are mostly at risk of being affected are: Shkodra, Dibra, Malësia e Madhe and Kruja. NACP reports that the rain and storms could cause flooding. Therefore, prefectures are urged to take immediate preventive measures and put their operational structures on alert.

NACP requires local officials to assess the most vulnerable areas from flooding and take measures for the population, informing them of the risk and planning response measures in case of flooding.

Also, local governments should determine places without risk for the population displacement in case of danger. In the letter addressed to the prefectures, the NACP states that the Armed Forces and the State Police will be on standby with the declared capacities for emergency cases.
