Armed Forces deployed to copy with the floods

The situation in Eastern and Central Albania is normalizing and there are improvments in Lezha. Shkodra is under constant observation by both local and central structures. The Armed Forces are enabling the movement of residents from flooded areas. The Armed Force is transporting food parcels from the State Reserves to the affected areas.

All hydropower plants in the regions of Shkodra, Lezha and Durrës operate at full capacity. There aren’t any evacuated families in Shkodra, even though 4080 ha of land have been flooded.
As a result of landslides, 3 houses have become uninhabitable in the municipality of Puka.
The rural axis Bogë - Qafë Thore is impassable; there is approximately 1m of snow.

The road of Dardha, municipality of Fushë – Arrëz is collapsed around 60-70 m (since 31 December 2020) and it’s unpassable.
In Lezha, Drin River is lowered at 70 cm from the maximal quota, meanwhile 28 families have been evacuated. In this region 2850 ha of land is under water. As a result of landslides, 6 houses in Lezha and 2 others in Mirdita have become uninhabitable.

Gallat - Minjollë in Milot and the road near Droj river are obstructed.
600 food parcels have been distributed in Lezha, Kurbin and Mirdita.
In Durrës 8 families have been evacuated, meanwhile 20 houses were flooded and there is still water in the area. 520 ha of land are under water. 300 food parcels were distributed in regions of Durrës, Krujë and Shijak.

Meanwhile, the Defence Minister Niko Peleshi, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Bajram Begaj and the Director of the National Agency of Civil Emergencies are in the affected areas in Shkodra and Lezha to coordinate.
