Minister Peleshi in Dajç: Residents of Shkodra need actions; it is not politics that stops the water

Defence Minister Niko Peleshi visited this Thursday the Dajç area, in Shkodra, where due to numerous inflows there was an unusual breach of the embankment, which endangered the flooding of the dwellings nearby. After getting acquainted closely with the situation, the Defence Minister said that "the immediate coordination of the National Agency for Civil Protection with other central and local structures has enabled the work for the repair of the embankment. At these moments that we are talking the breach is blocked and further work is being done for the full strengthening of the damaged part. It is the moment where people of Shkodra need actions not words, it is not politics that stops the water, but work!" - said Mr. Peleshi.

In the presence of the Mayor of Shkodra, Defence Minister Niko Peleshi announced that in case the local government funds will not be enough to cope with the situation created by the floods, then according to the law will be made available the support of central government.



"The issue requires only cooperation. As soon as we overcome the flooding situation, I urge the local government, Voltana, and all other municipalities to assess the damages", said Defence Minister Peleshi, while giving the message that all affected families will be supported.

In the last three weeks the Armed Forces have been engaged in Shkodra Municipality, mainly transporting residents in Obot village with the necessary vehicles and watercraft. Also, the effectives of the 1st Infantry Battalion in Vau i Dejës assisted the process of livestock evacuation.
