Minister Peleshi visits the flooded areas in Durrës: The Armed Forces are on the ground, but we must learn from these experiences

Defence Minister Niko Peleshi, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milva Ekonomi, and the Mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, were in Durrës to closely monitor the situation.
The Defence Minister noted the improvement of the situation and ensured the readiness of the Armed Forces.

"Let's say that the peak passed, the situation today is improving, the rain is over, the water is receding, but there are still families under water. I want to thank our Armed Forces that have been on standby since the first day, have evacuated some families that have taken refuge in Konvalishencë, or to their family members, a part that refused to leave, but that were not at risk because when there is danger, the evacuation is mandatory. We will continue to be here on alert, although good weather is expected for the next two days. We are equipped; we have heavy vehicles, equipments to cope with floods, generators, manpower, the military and everything else that is needed. It must be said that we must learn from these experiences.

Emergency requires a multi-institutional and society-wide response. Here we start from canal blocking, discharges from the informal dynamics of constructions over the years, which we cannot change now. We have even faced it with a lot of courage, with legalizations. Here the legalization process is well done. Along with legalization, we must pay attention to urbanization. We take responsibility for our duties, and the community has to take responsibility for its ones. We debated with some residents because we cannot ask for explanations to the municipality when you yourselves block the discharge canal to build a road", -  he said.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milva Ekonomi requested cooperation from the residents of the area, while the Mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, thanked the Armed Forces for their engagement during this situation.

The Armed Forces effectives are helping to discharge the reservoir in the village of Plan, in Tropoja Municipality and are engaged in distributing food packages to the residents affected by the floods.
