COVID-19, the Armed Forces will be engaged in the massive vaccination of the population

Doctors, nurses in uniform and the AAF logistics will be committed to mass vaccination against COVID - 19.

The news was announced by the Defence Minister Niko Peleshi, conveing the Government's intention and plan to vaccinate the entire population within 14 months.



“According to what Prime Minister stated, the Albania will be one of the first countries in the region to provide vaccines for the entire population. This charges with a great responsibility all the institutions that have the opportunity to contribute in the vaccination process. Considering the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense, they have the responsibility to commit all their resources. The Armed Forces will be engaged during the process of intensive, mass vaccination. We have about 100 nurses within our structure and also a lot of logistics facilities, sites can be open in every municipality, in every town, or village in case such a system is to be set up. Our medical staff consists not only of nurses, but also doctors, and our logistics support is of a wide range including also the transportation, which will be all in function of intensive vaccination.” - stated Minister Peleshi.

Minister Peleshi together with MP Ilir Pendavinji and the head of the Department of Epidemiology and Infectious Disease Control at the Institute of Public Health Tirana Dr. Silva Bino, followed closely the start of the vaccination process of the health care personnel of Korça.

Dr. Silva Bino announced that within two days it is aimed to vaccinate about 500 doctors, nurses, dentists, and health care personnel throughout the region of Korça.
