Part of future military pilots of the Albanian Air Force will be trained at home. On Farka Air Base began the Basic Officer Course on the specialty of Military Helicopter Pilot, which will be attended by lieutenants selected from various forces and units of the Armed Forces.
The initiation of this course was also attended by Defence Minister Niko Peleshi, who was accompanied by the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Prof. Assoc. Bajram Begaj.
Minister Peleshi considered the launch of the Pilot Course as a significant event, not only for the Air Force, but for the entire Armed Forces, in general, and assured the cadets for the continued support of the Ministry of Defense.
"Today you will take the first step to become part of the generation of pilots, who have not only loved their profession, but have consistently performed all the assigned tasks successfully and professionally. On the journey you are embarking today to prepare as a future pilot you will always have the support of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff. I am confident that our Air Force will develop and modernize at a rapid pace, and it will have special and deserved attention. Technical modernization combined with the passion and dedication of girls and boys like you is our assurance of having a dignified Air Force and capable of responding to the demands of our time and the needs of the country. We will make sure that you have those necessary flight hours for you to be called a pilot and truly become the new generation of dignified pilots of an Air Force that as time goes by, is modernizing.", - said Minister Peleshi, who particularly greeted the only girl participant in this course.
"I would like to end my wishes for you by specifically referring to Armela, that will be preparing to be the first female pilot in the AF."
The Basic Officer Course on the specialty of Military Helicopter Pilot lasts 49 weeks of classroom and practical training, and is divided into two phases: Special preparation for Helicopter and Professional Practice.
12 cadets are part of the course, including a girl.
