254 boys and girls were selected to conduct the Basic Individual Training, before being commissioned to soldiers of the Albanian Armed Forces.
The young men and women were personally greeted by the Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, and the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Bajram Begaj.
Pursuant to anti-COVID measures, the send-off ceremony took place with a very limited number of new recruits.
Minister Peleshi congratulated the recruits for being selected to be part of the Armed Forces and assured them that he would personally support them on their journey. "You will soon realize that you have made the right choice. I assure you that you will have my constant attention and care as Minister of Defense, but without doubt, also of all your commanders and military leaders. You will be the ones who will serve and honor Albania in the current missions, but also those of the future. This means that you will not be soldiers of the Albanian Armed Forces, but also soldiers of the Alliance, you will be soldiers of NATO. ”- the Minister addressed the boys and girls.
Speaking about education in the Armed Forces, Minister Peleshi informed the youth about his objectives to bring innovation to the Academy of the Armed Forces. "You are very close to finalizing the introduction of the branch of information technologies in the field of defense, which means that whoever graduates with a bachelor's degree, can work in the field of defense, in the specialty of information technologies, which is endless. We also want to open a master of cybersecurity. "Some of you or anyone else can attend this master and specialize in a field in which not Albania, but the world has more demand than supply." - said Mr. Peleshi.
Due to the pandemic, the recruits will conduct the Basic Individual Training, not only in the Troop School in Bunavi but also in the premises of the 1st Infantry Battalion in Vau i Dejës and the 3rd Infantry Battalion in Poshnjë, Berat.
The distribution of recruits is also based on their place of residence, in order to be as close as possible to their homes.
Out of 254 candidates for soldiers, 21 of them are girls and 11 have a university education.
