Last farewell to the Commander of Support Command, Brigadier General Ndriçim Sallaku

This morning, in the premises of the Ministry of Defense and respecting the anti-COVID measures, was paid homage to the untimely death of the Commander of the Support Command, Brigadier General Ndriçim Sallaku.

The President of the Republic Ilir Meta, the Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Europe Olta Xhaçka, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Prof. assoc. Bajram Begaj, US Ambassador Yuri Kim, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Murat Ahmet Yörük, former Minister of Defense Mimi Kodheli, military attachés accredited in our country, generals and force commanders, relatives of the deceased, friends and loved ones were present to pay their last respects to General Sallaku.

After paying homage, the Minister of Defense, Mr. Niko Peleshi, praised the work and dedication of brigadier general Ndriçim Sallaku throughout his military career especially his contribution to Civil Emergencies.

Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General prof. assoc. Bajram Begaj praised the commitment and passion throughout the military career of Brigadier General Ndriçim Sallaku, who, as he said, will remain unforgettable in our minds and hearts.

Afterward, the funerary box with the body of Brigadier General Ndriçim Sallaku, covered with the red and black flag, was placed on the cannon carriage, accompanied with the funerary sounds of the AF Wind Orchestra and the Honorary Bodyguard, headed to his last home.

The day before, the body of Brigadier General Sallaku was brought at the "Mother Teresa" Airport by a special plane of the Turkish Air Force, where it was received by the Honorary Bodyguard of the Albanian Armed Forces.

Yesterday, President Ilir Meta awarded Brigadier General Ndriçim Sallaku (after his death) with the decoration "Honor of the Nation".
Before being escorted to the final resting place, Brigadier General Ndriçim Sallaku was honored by Minister Peleshi with the "Medal of Gratitude", while CHGS Major General Begaj awarded him the "Medal for Special Services".
