The first woman promoted to “Major General”, minister Peleshi appraises the Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Manushaqe Shehu

The Preferment Ceremony of the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces took place today at the Ministry of Defense.
She became the first military woman to get promoted to Major General in the Albanian Armed Forces.
During the ceremony, Defence Minister Niko Peleshi evaluated the contribution of Major General Manushaqe Shehu, emphasizing that this is an appreciation for her career achievements. Minister Peleshi noted the important tasks she has accomplished, including those of special importance.
Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Manushaqe Shehu, thanked the high authorities of the State for the appraisal, promising to continue to serve the Armed Forces and the country with dedication and professionalism, with the support of the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Bajram Begaj and Defence Minister Niko Peleshi. She called attention to the women and men in uniform that with hard work and dedication can be promoted to ranks.
Major General Manushaqe Shehu was promoted to officer in 1984 and in her long career of 37 years, she has served in several tasks.
On November 14, 2016, she was promoted to "Brigadier General", by decree of the President of the Republic, and now she holds the rank of Major General.
