The Communication and Information Systems Agency turns 90 today, Peleshi: the Cyber Defense the key against threats from rival powers

The Communication and Information Systems Agency (CISA), an important part of the Albanian Armed Forces, celebrates the 90th Anniversary of the Establishment. Defense Minister Niko Peleshi, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Bajram Begaj, Deputy Minister Dallëndyshe Bici and former military, former employees of CISA were part of the ceremony organized on this occasion.

Defense Minister Niko Peleshi in his welcoming speech, stressed the importance and of all the efforts made by the Armed Forces to maintain with honor and dignity the position that belongs to them as part of NATO. Evaluating the work and achievements of this structure in 90 years of operation, the Defense Minister spoke about the future challenges.

“Today communication platforms have increased a lot, communication and signaling traffic has increased tremendously, which means that the exposure to threats has also increased a lot. Cyber defense, today is part of national security and has become a key word in all, discussions, communications, platforms, policies of NATO and our allies. Albania and the region, of course, does not make a difference. We are part of the globe, but of course we also live in a region, which is close to threats from rival powers, which, among other things, mostly use communication and information, the cyber world, as a weapon to penetrate and increase their influence”, - emphasized Minister Peleshi.

Mr. Peleshi emphasized the fact that now technology, innovation, communication, information technologies have become a priority of the Ministry of Defense. To respond to the challenges of the time, Mr. Peleshi said that in cooperation with the American allies, the Cyber Defense Unit is being set up. Promising to improve the motivation system from salaries, bonuses or even qualifications, he was expressed: “You did an excellent job over the years and now you have a new structure, which will serve to organize the work and increase the efficiency of your performance, but on the other hand we will do our best also for other systems of motivation, from salaries, bonuses to the spaces of qualification, to retraining of as many human capacities, which may be at your disposal. I am talking mainly about the Academy of the Armed Forces, where this new academic year we will open two - three new programs, two programs in 'Bachelor', one of them is Information Technology in the field of Defense, the other is Naval Command in the field of Defense, as well as a 'Master' in Cyber Security ".

The establishment of this agency dates back to June 30, 1931 with the creation of two signaling companies and a telegraph company. After all these years of communication and information service, today CISA is able to provide and support the implementation of command and control of the Armed Forces at a strategic and operational level at all times and to exchange information with NATO, train and coach the CISA staff in the AAF.
