Peleshi at Pashaliman Base: Karaburuni the only seriously threatened area, we have successfully managed the situation

The Karaburun Peninsula remains the only seriously fire-affected area in the country. The Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi, accompanied by the Prefect of Vlora Flamur Mamaj were at the Pashaliman Base, where they saw up close the efforts of the firefighters and the Albanian Armed Forces.

"Our Armed Forces have been present across the territory since the first day of Summer, which was followed by numerous fires. The Commander of the base has done a very good job. Since the threat is constantly present, we will continue the work with great intensity and we hope to put it under control and put it off out a few hours, let's say within today, but this can not be a promise. Atmospheric conditions are unpredictable, especially in an area like the Karaburun Peninsula," said the Defence Minister.

According to Minister Peleshi the flames were a menace to the Pashaliman Base, but thanks to the extraordinary work of over 200 servicemen of the Armed Forces and firefighters of the region, this important base was kept out of danger.
Around 1200 servicemen of the Armed Forces are on standby throughout the country, while over 60-helicopter flights have been carried out to extinguish the flames.

Minister Peleshi also expressed solidarity with the authorities and citizens of countries such as Greece and Turkey, who are facing the same situation.



"We consider it successfully managed so far, first we haven’t had any casualties or injuries, we even haven’t had burnt houses. The apartments in the Ksamil and a village in Përmet were mainly at risk. But now the fires are extinguished. Twenty-one servicemen of the Armed Forces worked respectively in each of these two areas.", - said Mr. Peleshi.

On his part, the Prefect of Vlora, Flamur Mamaj, congratulated the servicemen of the Armed Forces for their tireless work, while considering that the danger for Llogara Park has been overcome.
The difficult situations in the two villages of Fier have already been overcome, as well as the fires in the administrative unit of Mamurras, Kurbin Municipality.
