Current situation of wildfires in Republic of Albania, 20 August 2021

Lezha Region

1. Mirdita Municipality, Fan, Thirrë - The fire is at low- intensity down the slope toward Xhuxhë village. It was difficult for the AF to work on the terrain due to heavy smoke. There is no danger to dwellings. Engaged in extinguishing the fire, there wasn’t only the Chinook helicopter from the Netherlands, but also AF personnel and the local authorities.

2. Mirdita Municipality, Rubik, Old Katund - The situation today is under control. With the help of Cougar of AF, 25 troops of AF and the local authorities the situation is kept under control.

3. Mirdita Municipality, Fan, Munellë dhe Domgjon - Currently the fire spot is not posing any risk and is being monitored. The fire is still present but in an open area.

4. Lezha Municipality, Kolsh, Patalej - The fire is isolated and there is smoke in certain areas. The situation is being monitored by local authority forces.

Shkodra Region

5. Puka Municipality, Fushë-Kumullise, Qershizë - The situation is under control although 25 troops from AF, 8 from the forest service, and 8 firefighters are still engaged in terrain.

6. Fuzhë – Arrëz Municipality, administrative unit of Blerim, Flet village - Today situation appears to be normalized. There are 20 troops from the AF and 52 municipality forces as well as forest services working in terrain. In Srriqe village situation is a bit more problematic where it is planned to intervene by air.

7. Shkodra Municipality, Gur i zi – The situation is considered normal, although AF personnel and the Local Forest Service precede their work in terrain.

Kukës Region

8. Kukës Municipality, Top of Rrunës - The situation today promising, even so, with the intervention of the Dutch helicopter Chinook, the Armed Forces, local firefighters, and employees of Municipality are still working.

9. Bashkia Kukës, near Morin, close to Koritnik, within the Natural Park of Korab – Kortinik defended zone, the fire is still active and there are engaged 5 employees of Kukes Administrative Unit as well as 10 forces of the administrative unit of Tërthorë.

Dibra Region

10. Dibra Municipality, administrative unit of Selishtë, Qafë - Murrë, Kacni - Yesterday afternoon there was a reactivation of the fire and today are engaged the firefighters of Dibra, employees of the forest service and 10 volunteers. On the other hand, in Baxhaj, the employees of the municipality of Klos continue their work controlling fire, but there is no danger to the inhabited areas.

Vlora Region

11. Himara Municipality, the fire at the mountain stream of Vishnja was still active. During the night the fire didn't progress. Only timber and hummus are burned. The terrain is difficult and cannot be intervened by the ground. The surface is full of heather and strawberry-tree. The situation is being monitored by the local firefighters.
