Albania officially concludes the chairmanship of the SEDM Secretariat after a successful leadership

Albania has officially completed its chairmanship of the Secretariat of the South-Eastern Europe Defense Ministerial Initiative (SEDM), after a successful period of time, from 2019 to 2021.
On August 26, 2021, the members of the SEDM Secretariat took part in the handover ceremony of the SEDM Secretariat and passing it to Bulgaria, in Kumanovo city, Northern Macedonia, where the SEEBRIG brigade is deployed.



The SEDM Secretariat delegation was headed by the Deputy Defence Minister, Dallëndyshe Bici. During her speech, Deputy Minister Bici expressed the satisfaction of our country to have successfully completed this two-year work. She pointed out the Albanian determination and commitment during its chairmanship of the SEDM Secretariat to continue promoting the importance of the SEDM initiative, which has proven to be a successful mechanism for building security in Southeast Europe. Deputy Minister Bici said that our country has achieved a lot working together with all our partners during these two years. She emphasized that Albania will continue at the same pace supporting this important regional initiative.

At the end of her speech, Deputy Defence Minister expressed her appreciation to the SEEBRIG Commander, Brigadier General Aristeidis Iliopoulos, and his staff for the work and the continuous efforts to achieve success in all SEEBRIG activities. She also expressed her best wishes to the future SEDM Secretariat chaired by Bulgaria and assured the support of our country during their journey.

During the handover ceremony of the SEDM Secretariat, Albanian members were awarded medals from the Bulgarian chairman of SEDM Secretariat for their contribution and their two-year work on this initiative.
