The risk of cyber attacks, Peleshi: Government will subsidize studies in this field, bonuses for cyber security specialists

Cyber security is becoming more and more a field which requires specialized personel, so the Defence Minister Niko Peleshi, as the head of the institution greeted the participants in the innovative activity "Cyber Camp Albania ", where he invited young generation orient their careers towards this field.
Minister Peleshi pointed out the dangers threatening state and non-state institutions by cyber attacks, not only in Albania, but also in the US, where every 39 seconds a cyber attack is registered. There are also examples of interference in electoral processes, or in the critical states infrastructures.

Taking Israel experience as an example, where Minister Peleshi paid an official visit a few days ago, he said: “This means that talent, manpower and qualified people are needed. Today there are millions of jobs in the world. A few days ago I was in Israel and just in Tel Aviv there were 17,000 free vacancies because they could not find the right people in the market. There are millions of jobs in the world waiting for talents and this is why these fields are among the highest paid, the most highly paid professions"

According to Minister Peleshi, "The Ministry of Defense is going to work with the Cyber Security Electronic Certification Agency in order to make the cyber security policies, standards, and rules applicable to all those institutions as critical infrastructures, which must necessarily have developed all the capabilities of cyber security". He added that everything starts from education and today there are 16 students who start the Master of Cyber Security at the Academy of the Armed Forces, meanwhile we are working to increase the possibilities of qualifications and trainings in this field.

"So in addition to bachelor in public or non -public education system we are going to enhance, support, and subsidize with a special government program the education and fast training in the fields we are talking about: coding, programming, cyber security. The possibilities are tremendous. We offer a fund in support of a thousand or two thousand coders, or young people, who want to get qualified and become coders, or work in all branches of IT, all these as a subsidy, for example paying their scholarships. "We have some very good companies that are in contact with the government and will be the ones to provide this fund," said Minister Peleshi.

The Defence Minister said that the Prime Minister has agreed to increase the payment with bonuses for specialists of this field in the state administration, unifying these salaries with the private market.

The innovative activity "Cyber Camp Albania" is conceived as an annual activity, which is going to be organized in two editions (December and May) of each academic year, in order to emphasize the importance of the orientation and education towards cyber security profiles of young generation in their early stages of studying, and at the same time building the capacity of professionals working in the field of cyber security and cybercrime at national level.
