Deputy Minister Bici participates in UN Peacekeeping Ministerial

On December 7-8, 2021, the Fourth Peacekeeping Ministerial for United Nations was held in Seoul, which is received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defense of South Korea to discuss the peacekeeping of the United Nations.
The ministerial was conducted in two ways, in-person and video conference, as a result of the pandemic situation caused by COVID-19.
A wide range of speakers, including Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Ministers of Defense, current and former peacekeepers, as well as special guests treated some key peacekeeping challenges during the meeting.
Participant in the video conference of the ministerial was also the Albanian Republic delegation from the Ministry of Defense, headed by Deputy Minister Dallëndyshe Bici and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, headed by Deputy Minister Megi Fino.
Based on Albania's foreign policy, the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces have actively contributed to maintaining and strengthening international peace and security, protecting and promoting human rights, contributing also to the disarmament and non-proliferation of weapons.
Concerning the UN engagements, the Armed Forces have contributed with troops to UNOMIG (Operation in Georgia), MINURCAT (Mission to Central Africa and Chad), and UNMISS (Mission to South Sudan).
The ministerial takes place at a particularly crucial time for peacekeeping, as the UN continues its efforts to implement reforms and to get evolved, it also emerges as one of the key means through which the UN aims to strengthen the existing global partnerships supporting the peacekeeping operations around the world.
