31 million Euros for strengthening the Civil Protection System, visit of Minister Peleshi at the Department of Civil Protection in Italy

Strengthening the Civil Protection system is one of the priorities, on which the Ministry of Defense has been working for months. This was one of the issues that received attention in the meetings that the Defence Minister held during his visit in Italy. Mr. Peleshi was received in separate meetings by the Chief of the Department of Civil Protection Mr. Fabrizio Curcio and by the Commander of the Joint Operational Command, General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo.
Minister Peleshi, acquainted the heads of Italian Civil Protection structures with the intentions of the Ministry of Defense to increase the capacity in the field of civil emergencies, and showed his appreciation for the contribution of Italy, in according to Albania a grant of 31 million Euros.
The project foresees the construction and preparation of the civil protection operational room, training of the National Civil Protection Agency staff, increasing of the capacities for emergency planning and risk assessment, equipping the Operational rooms in 4 centers of AKMC and 8 prefectures, as well as equipping them with tools according to current standards.
During the discussion on strengthening relations between the two countries in the field of civil emergencies and cooperation so far, Minister Peleshi thanked Italy and in particular the Italian Department of Civil Emergencies, for the support provided in the case of the tragic earthquake of 2019 and during the pandemic of COVID-19.
