Over 500 food packages are distributed to the remote areas of Shkodra county

Over 500 packages mainly with food and detergents were distributed by the National Agency of Civil Emergencies in the municipalities of Puka and Malësi e Madhe. The food packages were provided by the State Material Reserves after the request made by the mayors of these municipalities and the prefect of Shkodra county, Majlinda Angoni.

Specifically, to the Municipality of Puka there were transported 300 packages, while to that of Malësia e Madhe, 205 packages.

The packages in these remote areas were sent to help families in need, those with social, health, or elderly problems who live alone and who have encountered severe difficulties due to severe weather and low temperatures.

In the Municipality of Malësi e Madhe, the packages were sent to the administrative unit of Kelmend, where the Prefect of Shkodra, Majlinda Angoni, and the Mayor Tonin Marinaj, were present. The mayor of Shkodra stressed the support of the authorities, not only for the inhabitants of the remote villages of the county but also for their cattle during these days with snowfall and extreme temperatures:

“Upon receiving the notification about the difficult situation in which some families were, we responded by meeting these needs within 24 hours. We also have an emergency situation in Puka, where we have sent a number of food packages according to the requests of the residents who are in difficulty. 507 food packages were distributed in the county, as well as detergents. It is expected that a basic amount of food will come for the living stock.”, - said prefect Angoni.

The packages were handed over to the aldermen of the eight villages of Kelmendi: Vermosh, Lëpushë, Selcë, Tamarë, Brojë, Kozhnje, Nikç, and Vukël to be distributed to the residents in their homes, while in Puka the packages were distributed to the remote villages of the administrative units of Qelëz, Qerret, Gjegjan and Rrapë.
