Wildfires situation in our country

Today, Armed Forces servicemen, members of the fire brigade, police forces, volunteers as well as forest service forces, under the coordination of the National Agency for Civil Protection (NACP), have engaged in several operations to extinguish wildfires in different areas of the country's territory. After continuous work, it was possible to put out 8 wildfires, 3 in Gjirokastra district, 1 in Shkodër, 1 in Tirana, 2 in Durrës and 1 in Fier. While 4 wildfires remain active.

In Legjin village, in the Administrative Unit of Orosh in Mirdita, work continues to extinguish the flames in a forest area with pine trees. Efforts are also being made to bring the flames under control in an area with vegetation and bushes, in the village of Draç, Kepi i Rodonit in the Administrative Unit of Ishëm, in Durrës. All fire trucks are involved in the operation, including the fire engine of Port of Durrës and Shijak. The work of the officers has been made difficult due to the terrain and the strong wind.

Another operation is ongoing in the village of Pilur in Himarë, where the flames have engulfed an area of bushes, as well as in the village of Qesarat of the Livadhja Administrative Unit, in the Municipality of Finiq, where the fire has engulfed an area of bushes and pastures.
NACP and the Ministry of Defense call on the local government for more commitment during this summer season, due to the hot temperatures that are expected in the coming days, to engage all Civil Defense structures at the local level, together with the firefighting forces. Volunteers and residents of the areas are also called for help. They must report fires as soon as possible.
