Albania will contribute to guaranteeing the peace agreement in the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt

Defence Minister Niko Peleshi and Mrs. Elizabeth L. Dibble, the highest representative of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) signed today the agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Multinational Observer Force (MOF) on the participation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania in the mission of MOF in Sinai, Arab Republic of Egypt.

The mission of the MOF is to oversee the implementation of the security provisions of the Peace Treaty between Egypt and Israel. The signed agreement paves the way for the representation of our country with a staff of 4 (four) Military Police (MP) officers in leadership, supervisory and investigative roles.

Mrs. Dibble expressed gratitude for our country’s contribution to this mission and praised Albania’s efforts as an exporter of security beyond the region. The Defence Minister expressed the clear political willingness and determination for dignified representation of Albania in this mission.
The deployment of AAF troops in this mission is an event of historical importance, since for the first time Albania contributes military troops to guaranteeing the peace agreement in the Sinai Peninsula. At the same time, this is a special contribution in terms of strategic cooperation in the field of Defense with the United States of America.
