Challenging weather and terrain, Albanian Search and Rescue team continues operations in Turkey

73 forces of the Search and Rescue teams of Albania are part of the rescuing operations since Tuesday in the areas affected by the February 6 earthquake.

Part of our team located in Malatya, Turkey, is working under extremely difficult conditions due to the ruins of tall buildings, and low temperatures. They are working non-stop to rescue survivors or the bodies of the victims who lost their lives in Monday's earthquake.

On Monday, members of the Albanian team, in full coordination with the local authorities and allied teams from the European Civil Protection Mechanism, helped to retrieve 3 dead bodies, and rescue a 5-year-old child, who was in good condition, despite long hours trapped in ruins.

So far, with the help of the members of the Albanian Search and Rescue team, 3 more bodies have been recovered. The members of our health team have also assisted in providing medical aid to dozens of injured people. Today, other additional forces joined the first Search and Rescue team from Albania, to support the Turkish authorities in coping with the consequences of the February 6 earthquake.
